Whitney Cummings was born on September 4, 1982, in Washington, D.C. She is an American stand-up comedian, actress, former model, creator of the NBC series Whitney, and co-creator of the CBS series 2 Broke Girls. Raised in Georgetown, Washington D.C., Cummings began her media career with a journalism internship at a local NBC affiliate. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Communications and film. After moving to Los Angeles, she became a cast member on the MTV series Punk'd while pursuing film roles and a stand-up comedy touring presence. Her third stand-up special, Whitney Cummings: I'm Your Girlfriend, aired on HBO in 2016, and her fourth, Whitney Cummings: Can I Touch It?, was released on Netflix in 2019, followed by her fifth special, Whitney Cummings: Jokes.
