Biography
Victoria Wood was an English comedian, actress, singer, songwriter, screenwriter, and director born on 19 May 1953. She began her career in 1974 by winning the ATV talent show New Faces. Throughout her career, Wood wrote and starred in sketches, plays, films, and sitcoms. She was known for her live comedy act, which featured her own musical compositions performed on piano. Wood composed and performed the theme music for the BBC sitcom Dinnerladies. Her work frequently focused on everyday life, social class satire, and British popular culture. Wood holds the record for the most television BAFTA wins in the history of the organization. She died on 20 April 2016.
