Torin Thatcher was an English actor born on January 15, 1905, in Bombay, British India, to English parents. He was an imposing, powerfully built figure known for his portrayals of screen villains. He was educated in England at Bedford School and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, subsequently working as a schoolmaster before making his first appearance on the London stage in 1927. He entered British films in 1934 and appeared in the 1937 Old Vic production of Hamlet alongside Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh. During the Second World War, he served with the Royal Artillery. Torin Thatcher died on March 4, 1981, at the age of seventy-six.
