Teyonah Parris is an American actress born on September 22, 1987, in Hopkins, South Carolina, USA. A graduate of the Juilliard School, she began her acting career in 2010. Her early prominent roles include appearances in the drama series Mad Men from 2012 to 2015 and the independent film Dear White People in 2014. She subsequently acted in the drama series Empire in 2014, Spike Lee's crime comedy Chi-Raq in 2015, and the drama film If Beale Street Could Talk in 2018. In 2021, Parris starred in the horror film Candyman and began portraying Monica Rambeau in the Marvel Cinematic Universe beginning with the Disney+ series WandaVision. She later featured in the black comedy series No Good Deed in 2024.
