Steve Landesberg was an American actor and comedian born on November 23, 1936, in New York City, New York. He is known for his role as police detective Arthur P. Dietrich on the ABC sitcom Barney Miller, appearing in 124 episodes from the end of the 1975 season until the series concluded in 1982. Landesberg received three Emmy Award nominations for this role. His other television work includes starring in the Starz series Head Case from 2007 to 2009. His film credits include Forgetting Sarah Marshall in 2008 and Wild Hogs in 2007. He married Nancy Ross in 1986, and they had one daughter. Landesberg died on December 20, 2010, at the age of 74.
