Romain Gavras is a French director born on July 4, 1981, in Paris, France. He is known for directing music videos including M.I.A.s Bad Girls and Born Free, Kanye West and Jay-Zs No Church in the Wild, Jamie xxs Gosh, and Justices Stress. His second film, The World Is Yours, screened at the Directors Fortnight during the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, and his third film, Athena, premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival in 2022. Gavras is the son of Greek-French film director Costa-Gavras and is a member of the film group Kourtrajmé alongside Kim Chapiron, Ladj Ly, and Toumani Sangaré.
