Robert Alda was an American theatrical and film actor, singer, and dancer born on February 26, 1914, in New York City, New York. Of Italian descent, he was born Alphonso Giuseppe Giovanni Roberto D'Abruzzo to parents Frances and Antonio D'Abruzzo. He was the father of actors Alan and Antony Alda. Before moving to Italy during the early 1960s, Alda was featured in a number of Broadway productions. Over the next two decades, he appeared in many European films and occasionally returned to the United States for film appearances, including The Girl Who Knew Too Much in 1969. He was also known for his work in MAS*H, Hallmark Hall of Fame, and Playhouse 90. Robert Alda died on May 3, 1986.
