Richard Charles Roberts is a Canadian film, television, and stage actor who was born on November 13, 1965, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His most substantial television role to date is Donald D'Arby in the series Traders, which earned him a Gemini Award nomination. In 1998, he briefly moved to Los Angeles to appear in the CBS series L.A. Doctors alongside Ken Olin and Sheryl Lee, before returning to Canada to star in An American in Canada for two seasons. In 2012, he played Jack Layton in the CBC biopic Jack, starring alongside Sook-Yin Lee as Olivia Chow. His portrayal of Layton earned him a Canadian Screen Award and an ACTRA Award for Best Actor. He has also guest-starred on Saving Hope and Copper.
