Ray Elgin Teal was an American actor born on January 12, 1902, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He passed away on April 2, 1976, at the age of seventy-four. He played dozens of sheriffs in movies and on television, with his most famous role being Sheriff Roy Coffee on the television series Bonanza from 1959 to 1972.
