Ramon Arens Bieri (June 16, 1929 – May 27, 2001) was an American film and television actor whose career spanned nearly four decades. A heavy‑set character performer, he was frequently cast as gruff westerners, irate police officers and hard‑boiled gangsters. After serving in the Korean War, Bieri began a stage career in 1954, appearing both on and off‑Broadway; his theatrical work included a 1975 production of Death of a Salesman and, later, membership in the Old Globe Theatre ensemble in San Diego, where he played the tough captain in Mr. Roberts in 1995.

Bieri made his television debut in 1962 with a bit‑part appearance and became a prolific guest star throughout the 1970s and 1980s, accumulating more than one hundred television roles. He is noted for recurring appearances on series such as Gunsmoke, portraying characters including Big Thicket, Musgrove, Doyle, John Sontag, Jarvis and Forbes. In addition to his extensive small‑screen work, he appeared in several notable films of the early 1970s, including The Andromeda Strain and Badlands. Bieri also headlined a short‑lived NBC sitcom, further demonstrating his versatility across media. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and died at the age of 71.
