Biography

Philip Jackson is an English actor born on June 18, 1948, in Retford, Nottinghamshire. He is known for portraying Chief Inspector Japp in Agatha Christie's Poirot television series and Abbot Hugo in the 1980s series Robin of Sherwood. Jackson studied Drama and German at the University of Bristol, where he began acting. He has performed theatre work in Leeds, Liverpool, and London. His stage credits include playing Pozzo in Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot at the Queen's Theatre in London's West End in 1991, and Willy Loman in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds in 2010.
