Peter Bogdanovich was an American film director, writer, actor, producer, critic, and film historian. Born on July 30, 1939, in Kingston, New York, he started his career as a film critic for Film Culture and Esquire. His work as a film journalist led to his involvement in the film industry, with his first credited feature film being Targets in 1968. Bogdanovich's career breakthrough came with the drama The Last Picture Show in 1971, earning him an Academy Award nomination.
