Norman Gene Macdonald was a Canadian stand-up comedian, writer, and actor known for his deadpan style. Born on October 17, 1959, in Québec City, Québec, Canada, his career included writing for the sitcom Roseanne and making guest appearances on shows such as The Drew Carey Show and NewsRadio. He served as a cast member on Saturday Night Live for five years, which included anchoring the Weekend Update segment for three seasons. Following his time on Saturday Night Live, he starred in the 1998 film Dirty Work and headlined his own sitcom, The Norm Show, from 1999 to 2001. In 2013, he launched a video podcast titled Norm Macdonald Live, where he interviewed comedians and other celebrities, and in 2018, he released Norm Macdonald Has a Show. He passed away on September 14, 2021, at the age of 61.
