Nobuko Otowa was a Japanese film actress who lived from October 1, 1925, until December 22, 1994. Throughout her career, which spanned from 1950 to 1994, she appeared in 134 films. She was married to the film director Kaneto Shindō. During the production of the film A Last Note, Otowa was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. Following her death, she was posthumously awarded the prize for best supporting actress at the 19th Japan Academy Prize for her performance in that film.
