Nigel Lindsay, born on 17 January 1969 in St John’s Wood, London, England, is an English actor whose career spans film, television and stage. He first gained notable attention on screen playing Barry, a Muslim convert, in Chris Morris’s feature debut Four Lions. The film received a BAFTA award and Lindsay’s performance earned him a nomination for Best British Comedy Performance in Film at the 2011 British Comedy Awards. On television he is recognised for portraying Sir Robert Peel in the first two seasons of the historical drama Victoria and for the role of Jo Jo Marshall in the Netflix series Safe.

Lindsay’s stage work includes a long association with the National Theatre, where he appeared as Mugsy opposite Ray Winstone and Phil Daniels in the original 1995 production of Patrick Marber’s Dealer’s Choice. More recently he performed opposite Sir Antony Sher as Dr Harry Hyman in Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass at the Tricycle Theatre. His performance in that production was honoured with the 2011 Whatsonstage Theatregoers’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor. Throughout his career Lindsay has been credited in a wide range of productions, accumulating over fifty‑nine known credits across film and television.
