Nicholas Edward Cave, born September 22, 1957, in Warracknabeal, Victoria, Australia, is an Australian musician, singer-songwriter, author, screenwriter, composer, and film actor. He is best known as the frontman of the rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and was originally the singer of the Australian group Birthday Party. Following that group's move to Europe and subsequent breakup in 1983, he moved to Berlin, where he appeared in several tracks on recordings by the group Die Haut. Across his career, he has composed a large number of scores, some in partnership with Warren Ellis, and has appeared in approximately fifteen feature films and video shorts, in addition to numerous documentaries.
