Michael Cerveris is an American actor, singer, and guitarist born on November 6, 1960, in Bethesda, Maryland. He is the son of music professor Michael Cerveris Senior and dancer Marsha Laycock. Known for his extensive stage work, he has performed in numerous plays and musicals, including several works by Stephen Sondheim such as Assassins, Sweeney Todd, Road Show, and Passion. His stage credits span a wide range of roles, including Shakespeare's Romeo, The Who's Tommy, the title role in Sweeney Todd, Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Bruce Bechdel in Fun Home, and John Wilkes Booth in Assassins.
