Fame is an American musical drama television series that aired between 1982 and 1987. The show was created by Christopher Gore and is based on the 1980 motion picture of the same name. The series follows the lives of the students and faculty at the New York City High School for the Performing Arts. While the school depicted in the program is fictional, the premise was based heavily on the actual Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts in New York. The cast of the series includes Carlo Imperato, Gene Anthony Ray, Debbie Allen, and Albert Hague. Regarding the production of the show, most interior scenes were filmed in Hollywood, California. In all seasons except for the third, the production team shot several exterior scenes on location in New York City. The series is characterized by a mixture of drama and music, focusing on the experiences of those attending the performing arts institution.
