Marthe Keller is a Swiss actress and opera director born on January 28, 1945, in Basel, Switzerland. As a child, she studied ballet, but stopped after a skiing accident at age 16, subsequently shifting her focus to acting. She worked in Berlin at the Schiller Theatre and the Berliner Ensemble. Her earliest film appearances include Funeral in Berlin in 1966 in an uncredited role and the German film Wilder Reiter GmbH in 1967. During the 1970s, she appeared in a series of French films, such as Un cave in 1971, La raison du plus fou in 1973, and Toute une vie, also known as And Now My Love, in 1974. Her most famous American film appearances include Marathon Man, where she played Dustin Hoffman's girlfriend and earned a Golden Globe nomination.
