Mark Lee Ping-bing is a cinematographer, photographer, and author born in Taiwan on August 8, 1954. He began his film career in 1977 and started a collaboration with Taiwanese filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien in 1985. Lee is best known for his graceful camera movement and his use of natural lighting utilizing real film. Over his career, he has accumulated over seventy films and twenty-one international awards. Among his accolades, he received the Grand Technical Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2000 for In the Mood for Love. His honors also include two Glory Of The Country Awards from the Government Information Office of Taiwan and the Light Of The Cinema Award from the president of Taiwan.
