Ann Hui On-wah is a Hong Kong film director, film producer and occasional screenwriter. She was born to a Chinese father and a Japanese mother. Ann Hui is one of the most critically acclaimed amongst the Hong Kong New Wave. Born on 23 May 1947, she has established herself in the film industry. Her work has garnered critical acclaim, earning her recognition as a prominent figure in the Hong Kong New Wave movement.
