Margaret Ruth Margot Kidder was a Canadian-American actress, director, and activist whose career spanned over five decades. Born on October 17, 1948, in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, her parents were Jill Kidder and Kendall Kidder, a mining engineer. Due to her father's work, the family moved eleven times during her childhood across the Northwest Territories and several other Canadian provinces. Kidder began her acting career in the 1960s, appearing in low-budget Canadian films and television series. Throughout her extensive career, she accumulated 155 known acting credits across film and television. Her accolades include three Canadian Screen Awards and one Daytime Emmy Award. She is most widely known for her performance as Lois Lane in the first four films of the Superman film series. Margot Kidder passed away on May 13, 2018.
