Leslie Bevis was born on 13 February 1954 in Washington, District of Columbia, United States. After beginning her professional life as a model in Europe, she pursued formal acting training at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Her acting career commenced in 1983, and she made her feature‑film debut the following year in the Steve Martin comedy released under the German title Ein Single kommt selten allein.

Bevis’s screen work quickly expanded to both film and television. In cinema she is remembered for portraying Commanderette Zircon in the 1987 science‑fiction parody Spaceballs and for playing Cassandra in the 1988 film Alien Nation. Her television résumé includes guest appearances on a range of popular series such as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Dallas, Murder, She Wrote, Night Court, MacGyver, Falcon Crest and Who’s the Boss?. The role that brought her the greatest public recognition was that of Ruth Perkins on the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, a part she inhabited during the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Throughout her career Bevis moved fluidly between modeling, stage training, film, and episodic television, establishing a diverse portfolio of performances across several decades.
