Biography
John Travolta is an American actor born February 18, 1954. He began his career on television and became widely known for his role in the sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter from 1975 to 1979. Travolta transitioned to film with prominent roles in Carrie, Grease, Urban Cowboy, and Blow Out. His performance in Saturday Night Fever earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He later received another Oscar nomination for his role in Pulp Fiction. Travolta has won a Primetime Emmy Award and three Golden Globe Awards, and has been nominated for three Screen Actors Guild Awards and a British Academy Film Award. Other notable films include Get Shorty and Brokeback Mountain.
