Before beginning his acting career, he worked as an athlete, winning many awards, until he retired due to an injury in 1991. He has known credits in acting and uses the stage name 晋松, along with variations including 晉松 and Chun Chung. In 1997, Jin Song participated in the historical film Opium War, directed by Xie Jin. He later participated in the costume comedy Oolong Chuangguan in November 2002 and Tang Jili's action movie Myth in 2006. In May 2007, he starred in the historical costume drama The Legend of Xin Chasing.
