Jeanne Tripplehorn is an American actress born on June 10, 1963, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She began her career in theatre, performing in several plays, including a Broadway production of Anton Chekov's Three Sisters. Her film career started with the role of a police psychologist in the 1992 film Basic Instinct. She has also appeared in The Firm, Waterworld, and Sliding Doors. On television, Tripplehorn starred as Barbara Henrickson in the HBO drama series Big Love and as Dr. Alex Blake in the CBS police drama Criminal Minds.
