He began his career as a child performer, appearing in the comedy‑drama St. Vincent (2014) and the science‑fiction film Midnight Special (2016). His work in St. Vincent earned a Critics’ Choice Movie Award nomination for Best Young Performer. Martell portrayed the title character in the drama The Book of Henry (2017) and achieved wider recognition as Bill Denbrough in the supernatural horror adaptations It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019). He subsequently headlined additional horror projects, including The Lodge (2019) and Mr. Harrigan’s Phone (2022). He has also held supporting roles in other films.
