Biography
Hiroko Yakushimaru began her acting career after passing an audition for a film produced by Haruki Kadokawa. She made her acting debut in the 1978 movie Never Give Up. Yakushimaru gained prominence in 1981 with Sailor Suit and Machine Gun, where she played the leading role. She also recorded the theme song for the film, which reached No. 1 on Oricon and stayed there until January 18, 1982. Along with Tomoyo Harada and Noriko Watanabe, she was referred to as one of Kadokawa Sannin-musume in her early career. Yakushimaru has achieved success as both an actress and a pop singer.
