Charles Henry Daniell, also known as Henry Daniel, was an English actor born on March 5, 1894, in Barnes, Surrey, United Kingdom, though other records list his birthday as March 4, 1894. He had a long career on stage and in films, with eighty-eight known acting credits. Daniell made his film debut in the 1929 movie Jealousy. He was known primarily for villainous roles in films including The Great Dictator, The Philadelphia Story, and The Sea Hawk, and he played Professor Moriarty in the Sherlock Holmes film The Woman in Green in 1945. He also portrayed Franz Liszt in the 1947 biographical film Song of Love. Daniell died on October 31, 1963, at the age of sixty-nine.
