William Glenn Shadix, also known as William Glenn Shadix-Scott and Glen Shadix, was an American actor and comedian. He was born on April 15, 1952, in Bessemer, Alabama, United States. Shadix was known for his roles in films directed by Tim Burton, including playing Otho, also referred to as Otho Fenlock, in the horror comedy film Beetlejuice, and providing the voice of the Mayor of Halloween Town in The Nightmare Before Christmas. After catching Burton's attention in the mid-1980s in a stage play where he portrayed the writer Gertrude Stein in a rock role, Burton engaged him for the horror comedy. Shadix passed away on September 7, 2010, at the age of 58.
