Frank Andrew Lovejoy Jr. was an American actor in radio, film, and television, born on March 28, 1912, in the Bronx, New York City. He grew up in New Jersey and worked on Wall Street as a teenager until the Great Depression of 1929 cost him his job. He then pursued acting, performing in touring companies throughout the Northeast and making his Broadway debut in 1934 in the play They Knew What They Wanted.
Beginning his radio career in the early 1940s, Lovejoy appeared on programs such as Gang Busters and This Is Your FBI, and he is best remembered for starring in the radio drama Night Beat.
