Ethan Hawke
Biography
Ethan Green Hawke, born November 6, 1970, is an American actor, writer, and director. He began his film career with a supporting role in Dead Poets Society (1989), which marked his breakthrough. Hawke gained further recognition for his performances in Reality Bites (1994), Before Sunrise (1995), and its sequel Before Sunset (2004). His role in Training Day (2001) earned him a Screen Actors Guild nomination. Known for portraying introspective characters, Hawke has also appeared in films such as Explorers (1985), White Fang (1991), A Midnight Clear (1992), Alive (1993), and Boyhood (2014). He was raised by his mother in Texas after his parents divorced when he was five years old. The name Ethan is of Hebrew origin, meaning "firm" or "enduring."
