He attended St. Mary's College High School and later the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History while also lettering in rugby. Following his education, he pursued modeling in European cities including Paris, Milan, and Barcelona before returning to the United States to begin his acting career. His early television work included playing the series regular role of Finn in the year 2000 on the WB television series Young Americans, which was a Dawson's Creek spinoff. Over his career, he has also played recurring roles in several television series such as 2 Broke Girls, Mistresses, and One Day at a Time.
