David Henry Chase was born on August 22, 1945, in Mount Vernon, New York. He is an American writer, producer, and director known for creating, head writing, and executive producing the HBO drama The Sopranos, which ran for six seasons from 1999 to 2007. In addition to The Sopranos, Chase has written and produced for television shows including The Rockford Files, I'll Fly Away, and Northern Exposure. He also created the original series Almost Grown, which aired for 10 episodes between 1988 and 1989. Chase has won seven Emmy Awards for his work. His feature film debut occurred in 2012 with Not Fade Away, and he later wrote and produced The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel film to The Sopranos released in 2021.
