Daphne Rubin-Vega was born on November 18, 1969, in Panama City, Panama. She is an actress, dancer, and singer-songwriter. She learned theater at the William Espers Studio in New York and studied with the New Labyrinth Theater Company. Rubin-Vega is best known for originating the roles of Mimi Marquez in the 1996 premiere of the Broadway musical Rent and Lucy in the 2007 premiere of the Off-Broadway play Jack Goes Boating. Her television and film credits include appearing as Bombshell publicist Agnes in the second season of the television series Smash in 2012, Luisa Lopez in the television series Katy Keene in 2020, and salon owner Daniela in the 2021 film adaptation of In the Heights. She also appeared in Twelfth Night in Shakespeare in the Park.
