Biography

Daniel Henney was born in Carson City, Michigan, to a Korean adoptee mother and an American father of Irish descent named Philip Henney. He began his modeling career in 2001, working in the United States, France, Italy, Hong Kong, and Taiwan while attending college. His professional debut in South Korea occurred through an advertisement for the Amore Pacific cosmetic product Odyssey Sunrise. He subsequently served as a spokesperson for Olympus cameras alongside Jun Ji-hyun and for Daewoo Electronics Klasse air conditioners with Kim Tae-hee. Despite not speaking Korean, Henney gained widespread recognition for his role as the surgeon Dr. Henry Kim in the South Korean television drama My Lovely Sam Soon, also known as My Name is Kim Sam Soon.
