Catherine Zeta-Jones is a Welsh actress born on September 25, 1969, in Swansea, Wales. Raised in Mumbles, she began her acting career on stage at an early age. Following various roles in television films and smaller film projects in the United Kingdom and the United States, she gained prominence in Hollywood with the 1998 action film The Mask of Zorro and the 1999 crime thriller Entrapment. Her performance in the 2000 film Traffic earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination. Zeta-Jones later starred as Velma Kelly in the 2002 musical Chicago, a role for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She is recognized for demonstrating versatility across a wide range of film roles.
