Brittany Anne Murphy-Monjack, born Brittany Bertolotti on November 10, 1977, in Atlanta, Georgia, was an American actress and singer. As a teenager, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Her breakthrough role came as Tai Frasier in the 1995 film Clueless. She subsequently appeared in independent films such as Freeway in 1996 and Bongwater in 1998. In 1997, she made her stage debut in a Broadway production of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge. Her later film credits in the 1990s include Girl, Interrupted and Drop Dead Gorgeous, both released in 1999. In the 2000s, she appeared in Don't Say a Word alongside Michael Douglas and in 8 Mile alongside Eminem. Murphy died on December 20, 2009.
