He graduated from Hofstra University, where he played football, and later played professionally for the Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL. Starr is known for his film roles, including Sheriff Ben Meeker in a 1988 horror movie and Henry Hill's father in a film directed by Martin Scorsese. He also appeared as Lt. Harding Welsh in a television show. Starr's younger brother, Mike Starr, was also a successful actor. Beau Starr passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 81.
