Aziz Ismail Ansari is an American actor, comedian, and filmmaker. Born on February 23, 1983, in Columbia, South Carolina, he is known for his work in television and film. Ansari played the character Tom Haverford on the NBC series Parks and Recreation from 2009 to 2015. Additionally, he created and starred in the Netflix series Master of None. His career also includes co-creating and starring in the MTV sketch comedy show Human Giant, as well as appearing in feature films and other television programs such as Flight of the Conchords and Variety Studio: Actors on Actors. He began performing comedy in New York City while attending NYU Stern in 2000.
