Anthony Michael Hall is an American actor born on April 14, 1968, in Boston, Massachusetts. He is known professionally by his birth name as well as Michael Anthony Hall. Hall rose to fame starring in teen classic films with John Hughes, including Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science. To avoid becoming typecast in his geek persona, he diversified his roles by joining the cast of Saturday Night Live from 1985 to 1986 and appearing in films such as Out of Bounds, Johnny Be Good, Edward Scissorhands, and Six Degrees of Separation. Following minor roles in the 1990s, he later starred as Microsoft's Bill Gates in 1999 and played the leading role of Johnny Smith in the television series The Dead Zone from 2002 to 2007.
