After leaving the organization in the early 1970s, Paton and her husband, Robert Bob Goldsby, founded and ran the Berkeley Stage Company for a number of years. Her husband was a stage director with the American Conservatory Theater, the first director of its conservatory program, and a professor at the University of California, Berkeley Department of Drama.
