Howard Andrew Williams was an American singer and actor born in Wall Lake, Iowa on December 3, 1927. During a career spanning over six decades, he recorded 43 albums, earning 15 gold certifications and three platinum certifications. He received six Grammy Award nominations and sold over 100 million records worldwide, including more than 10 million certified units in the United States. He hosted the television variety show The Andy Williams Show from 1962 to 1971, as well as numerous television specials. His variety show won three Emmy awards. He is best known for the song Moon River, written by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini, which inspired the name of the Moon River Theatre in Branson, Missouri. Williams died on September 25, 2012, at the age of 84.
