Andrew Wynford Davies, born 20 September 1936 in Rhiwbina, Wales, United Kingdom, is a Welsh male writer of screenplays and novels. He is recognised for his work as a writer and, on some listings, also as a director. Davies’s credited output includes more than one hundred projects, with 103 known credits recorded. He is best known for the television series House of Cards and A Very Peculiar Practice, and for adapting classic literature such as Vanity Fair, Pride and Prejudice, Middlemarch, Bleak House and War & Peace. Additional writing credits include the productions Rock Hudson: Dark and Handsome Stranger and What a Difference a Day Made: Doris Day Superstar. In 2002 he was honoured as a BAFTA Fellow.
