Andrei Sergeyevich Mikhalkov‑Konchalovsky (Russian: Андрей Сергеевич Михалков‑Кончаловский) was born on 20 August 1937 in Moscow, then part of the USSR. He is a Russian filmmaker who has worked as a director, screenwriter, actor, producer, and theater and television director in both Russia and the United States. His stage name is Андрей Кончаловский, and he has 103 known credits. He studied for ten years at the Moscow Con. He is the son of writer Sergey Mikhalkov and the brother of filmmaker Nikita Mikhalkov, and early in his career he frequently collaborated with Andrei Tarkovsky. His work has received a Cannes Grand Prix Spécial du Jury, a FIPRESCI Award, two Silver Lions, three Golden Eagle Awards, and a Primetime Emmy Award.
