George Alexander Trebek, also known as George Alexa, was a Canadian-American television personality, game show host, and actor born on July 22, 1940, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. He became a naturalized United States citizen in 1998. Trebek was best known as the host of the syndicated game show Jeopardy! following its revival in 1984. Throughout his career, he also hosted several other game shows, including The Wizard of Odds, Double Dare, High Rollers, Battlestars, Classic Concentration, and To Tell the Truth. In addition to hosting, he made appearances in numerous television series, typically playing himself. For his work on Jeopardy!, he received the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host seven times. Trebek passed away on November 8, 2020, at the age of eighty.
