Fr Michael Long is a volunteer leader and director of the Cabragh Wetlands Trust, Cabragh Wetlands Centre, Co Tipperary. He was a guest speaker in the International Bog Day event hosted by Tóchar Stories in partnership with the National Library – Seamus Heaney ‘Listen Now Again’ exhibition. In his talk Michael draws on the work of the Cabragh Wetlands in terms of nature conservation and education and in this short piece shares why wetlands are so important and why we need to both protect and conserve them for people, places and nature.
