– Minnesota Sues Trump Admin For Evidence In Pretti & Good Killings
Minnesota officials have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration to obtain evidence they say is needed for independent investigations into three shootings by federal officers.
These shootings include the deaths of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti in Minnesota last January, during the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
The lawsuit alleges that the federal government failed to fulfill its promise to cooperate with state investigations after the surge of federal law enforcement in Minneapolis.
State officials are asking for a court order to compel the Trump administration to comply.
“We are prepared to fight for transparency and accountability that the federal government is desperate to avoid,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty told reporters.
The lawsuit describes the shootings as examples “of the violent actions committed by federal agents in Minnesota during the Surge.”
It also accuses federal agents of conducting “illegal stops, sweeps, arrests, and dangerous raids in sensitive public spaces,” causing “widespread fear among Minnesota residents.”
