On the morning of December 19, at the Department of Justice of Hanoi, a ceremony to award the President’s decision to naturalize Vietnamese nationality for goalkeeper Nguyen Filip (Filip Nguyen) took place.
This is not only good news for the CAHN Club but also for the Vietnam National Team as former goalkeeper Slovan Liberec can now qualify to represent the Golden Star warriors. Fans expect Nguyen Filip will soon play for the Vietnam national team at upcoming important tournaments.

Sharing his feelings on the day of receiving the decision, Nguyen Filip said: “Now I have officially become a Vietnamese. So I’m really happy.”
It is known that Nguyen Filip’s citizenship application process went through many difficulties due to paperwork issues and geographical distance when he was still playing in the Czech Republic. However, everything has accelerated rapidly since the overseas Vietnamese goalkeeper joined CAHN Club in June 2023.
“This was a very long process, it took about nine years,” Nguyen Filip recalls. “But in the end everything went well. Because I officially became a Vietnamese.”
“I also want to thank CAHN Club for supporting me from the very first steps through my naturalization process. The club played a huge role throughout this process,” the 31-year-old goalkeeper added.
Talking about the opportunity to play for the Vietnamese team, the player who is on the payroll of the Police Department commits: “This will also be my commitment. Because I have become Vietnamese. And I was able to play football for the Vietnam National team. And I promise to do my best to help Vietnam National Team reach new milestones in the future. And I believe we can achieve success together.”
Nguyen Filip (Filip Nguyen) was named in the preliminary list of 50 players of the Vietnam national team preparing for the 2023 Asian Cup finals taking place in January 2024.
