now to the Widow and a close friend of the surfer who was killed in a shark attack in the waters of Hawaii Matt Rivers joins us now with what they’re saying this morning good morning Matt good morning Rebecca the world Knew Too Perry as a surfer and an actor but to those who knew him best he was a man of deep Faith now taken too soon I feel so upset and devastated but I also have a weird calmness in my heart knowing that he’s in a better place this morning ABC News sitting down with the wife and close friend of lifeguard Surfer and actor too Perry Just days after he was killed in his native Hawaii after being bitten by a shark in the waters off the island of aahu it was like I wented the best 25 year vacation of my life with him and and now it’s over now I got to come back to reality he was a local Legend in a sense say his friends his surf skills and infectious personality translating seamlessly into to film with roles in Pirates of the Caribbean and Blue Crush oh it’s pretty nuts what my word friends say Perry knew the area where he died like the back of his hand paddling out on Sunday like he always did there was nothing out of the ordinary that would indicate that something bad would happen to him versus anybody else it was a regular day Perry’s death at the hands of a shark just the ninth time that’s happened in Hawaii in the last 30 years officials say another man was bit yesterday and a quote aggressive shark was spotted near aahu but Perry’s friends are convinced he would tell people go back out there for people that are Surfers and Avid ocean users we do it because we love it and for aelia his wife and who knew him for more than two decades Perry’s Legacy is clear how to be a better human to love everybody when you have them because you never know when they’re going to be taken away now she also told us her husband was a devout Christian even texting his family sometime well before he died saying quote I can’t wait to meet the king I’m excited not scared we got to pray and forgive and love guys oh just so sad yeah really is all right Matt thank you so much
